The NHMRC is writing national under-18 gender-dysphoria guidelines. Queensland and the Northern Territory restrict new public-hospital puberty blockers and opposite-sex hormones for minors.

On 31 January 2025 the federal Health Minister asked the National Health and Medical Research Council to develop national clinical-practice guidelines for people under 18 with gender dysphoria. NHMRC says interim advice on puberty suppression is due for public consultation in late 2026, with final guidelines expected in April 2028. This is a guideline project.
