The Law of Georgia on the Protection of Family Values and Minors (No 4437, 17 September 2024; published 3 October 2024; in force on the 60th day after promulgation) Article 6 forbids surgery or any other medical manipulation intended to assign a person a sex different from biological sex. The prohibition is not limited to minors.
Article 6 is the medical cell. The official English Matsne text: “It shall be forbidden to perform surgery on a person or use any other type of medical manipulation with regard to such person in order to assign him/her to a sex different from his/her biological sex.” That prohibition is not limited to minors. Article 8 is the school cell. The two articles are separate. This is an enacted statute, not a proposed bill.

Separate from Article 6, Article 8 forbids educational programmes — early learning, preschool, general schools, vocational, and higher education — from including or disseminating information aimed at popularising assignment to neither biological sex, or to a sex different from biological sex, same-sex relationships with an expressed sexual orientation, or incest. Article 8¹ of the Law on General Education applies the same school-curriculum rule. This is a school and education statute. It is not the medical-manipulation ban.
