A national surgery standard starts at 18.
Fudan University Children’s Hospital / National Children’s Medical Center describes China’s first multidisciplinary outpatient clinic for transgender children and adolescents (psychology, endocrinology/genetics-metabolism, urology, and social work). The hospital says the clinic provides professional assessment, diagnosis, psychological treatment, and necessary drug intervention. A hospital case narrative includes medication to suppress menstruation, with surgery deferred until adulthood for the patient to decide. NHC’s Gender Reassignment Technology Clinical Application Management Specification (2022 edition, restricted technology G05) requires the surgery subject to be 18 or older and fully civilly capable — an 18-plus surgery technical standard. The 2009 trial sex-reassignment surgery specification is the earlier archive of that surgery-age rule.
